ABOUT US
I am happiest when I am being creative and love fixing and making things. That's perhaps why, with my husband and two very small children, we took on a huge renovation project, a derelict farmhouse in a rural village. That was 25 years ago and now the house is pretty much done and my children have grown up, but I still love to mend and make.
My shop, Cozy Hovel, was first inspired by my love for older furniture when I enjoyed bringing used and discarded pieces back to life. My interest and enthusiasm grew when I found people loved my work and as a result I trained in the application of Annie Sloan and Grand Illusions chalk paint. For me, it's important and much kinder to the environment to reuse and reinvent rather than send stuff to landfill. Sometimes all it needs is a little bit of imagination and hard work.
My passion has since developed and now I love to design and create handmade cushions and free motion embroidery pictures, using previously used or reclaimed when possible. I see beauty in old and used things and nothing fills me with more joy than searching for interesting, unique and useful items for your home.
Thank you for visiting my shop, I love the things I buy and make and hopefully you will too. Please contact me if would like a gift personalised or have any questions.
